The Tower was built for the World’s Fair in 1968 by prominent architect O’Neil Ford. The entire structure was the theme for that year’s World’s Fair and until 1996 it held the distinction of being the US’s tallest observation tower. To this day guests can pay only $10.95 to take in the view from the Observation Deck, visit Flags Over Texas and experience the 4D Theater Ride.
Located in the Tower, The Chart House Restaurant offers visitors a chance to experience fine dining while taking in the phenomenal view. The menu is a unique blend of local cuisine and exotic destinations. Diners can enjoy mahi-mahi while sipping an elegantly prepared margarita.
For visitors that are traveling from out of the area, local hotels are plentiful. The Marriott Rivercenter is only .07 miles from the Tower of Americas and other hotels such as Drury Plaza River Walk, La Quinta Inn and Suites and Grand Hyatt are all within easy walking distance.
The operating hours for the Observation Deck are Sunday thru Thursday 11:00 am to 10:00 pm and Friday/Saturday 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.
